Care for Creation Earth Day Poster Contest is Open Until April 4th
Caring for God’s Creation is an important Catholic Social Teaching that pre-dates Pope Francis and his encyclical “Laudato Si.” Its origin can be found in the first chapter of the Genesis creation story and is as relevant today as it was then.
To draw attention to this, the Department of Catholic Social Teaching has developed an Earth Day poster contest to unite families and children in discussing creation care.
In this second year of the competition, all children whose immediate family attend an Archdiocesan parish aged K - 3rd grade are encouraged to participate. Posters will be judged on artistic merit and relation to the theme ("You Have the Power to Care for the Earth"), originality, and neatness. Prizes will be awarded in two categories (K-Grade 1 and Grades 2-3). The contest submissions are due by April 4. The top two winners in each category will be recognized, and cash prizes will be awarded. The Archdiocesan "Care for Creation" webpage contains contest rules and additional information.
