Just a few days ago, on Tuesday of Holy Week, many of the faithful – laity, seminarians, deacon aspirants, men and women religious, deacons and priests of the archdiocese – gathered for the Chrism Mass in our newly restored Cathedral of St. Raphael. The bright lighting, vibrant colors and restored artwork bring new life to the mother church of our archdiocese.

Now, in the radiant joy of Easter, we celebrate the triumph of the Lord’s Resurrection, which brings new life to all corners of our archdiocese and beyond. May our restored cathedral remind us that God is not done building, healing, anointing and believing in us. Nor is He done leading us step-by-step on the journey in faith.
May we go forth on mission to share the Good News of the Risen Christ who, with the Father and in the Spirit, makes all things new.

Celebrating the Jubilee of Youth and Adolescents
The Archdiocese of Dubuque is celebrating the Jubilee of Youth and Adolescents in the month of April. Faith formation programs across the archdiocese are doing some amazing things to cater to the ministry needs of our young population, in addition to programming being offered by the Youth and Young Adult Ministry department at the Archdiocese of Dubuque Pastoral Center. April’s Jubilee is the perfect time to recognize and celebrate these efforts, as well as the young people in the Archdiocese of Dubuque.

These are not just symbols, they are sacramental signs of God’s nearness, his tenderness, his power at work in fragile human lives," said Archbishop Thomas Zinkula in his homily to the hundreds gathered in the newly restored Cathedral of St. Raphael.

The Archdiocese of Dubuque is honored to host a leg of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, which makes its way from Indianapolis to Los Angeles from mid-May to the Feast of Corpus Christi. Eight Perpetual Pilgrims, four young men and four young women, will accompany the Blessed Sacrament on this nearly cross-country journey and will be our guests from May 23-27, 2025.
On Friday evening, May 23rd, we will be receiving the Blessed Sacrament by boat traveling north on the Mississippi River from the Diocese of Davenport at the Port of Dubuque Marina.
This will be followed by a community procession in the Port of Dubuque led by Archbishop Thomas Zinkula. This event is a family-friendly celebration.

After the community procession, Perpetual Pilgrims and select Clergy will continue on with a solemn procession to the Cathedral of St. Raphael, symbolizing the journey of the Venerable Samuel Mazzuchelli. The faithful will be waiting to gather outside or inside the Cathedral of St. Raphael to celebrate and welcome the Blessed Sacrament accompanied by Archbishop Zinkula, Clergy and Perpetual Pilgrims as it arrives at the mother church of the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
Over the subsequent days, the faithful are encouraged to accompany Jesus to the far western edge of our Archdiocese when He and the Perpetual Pilgrims depart Tuesday morning, May 27th, from Ames to the Diocese of Des Moines.
